History of Indian Army :

"Indian Army came in to being when India gained Independence in 1947. The Indian Army is the land based branch and the largest component of the Indian Armed Forces. The President of India is the Commander-in-Chief of the Army. The earliest mention of Indian Army is found in the ancient texts and scriptures, including the vedas and the epics Mahabharatha and Ramayana. History of Indian army shows that sice ancient times a conventional method of warfare was followed. Hence the structure, strength and the policies deffered in the various empires, but what remained unaltered was the underterred bravery with which the courageous men faced their foes."
